Isaiah’s prophecy of the destruction of Damascus is one of the oldest unfulfilled prophesies in the Bible. Every prediction, and there have been many, has been wrong. I’m not predicting the destruction of Damascus on December 3, 2012 as described in Isaiah 17:1-2. I’m asking you to watch and wait.
Please be mindful that Syria is mired in a civil war and
Basher Assad, the leader of Syria, is in dire straits. When Syrian rebels
captured a helicopter base just outside Damascus on Sunday November 25, 2012,
it proves Basher Assad’s tenure might end soon. Although Mr. Assad is
thoroughly evil, if he’s cornered, what is his plan?
If you’re a mentally-ill leader in a losing battle, what do
you do? I submit that he could employ the Samson Option and nuke Damascus. So
far, all I have is conjecture.
I just discovered another link from my Spiros Zodhiates’
commentary Bible. Please allow me to share it.
Throughout the Bible, the Assyrian or the Assyrians
terrorize the Judeans just because they can. It’s a spiritual darkness issue. In
Isaiah 7, we see that Rezin, the King of Syria, and a Northern Tribe king named
Pekah go to war against Judah/Jerusalem. Then in verses 10-16 we see a sign
(ot) of Yahushua haMashiach being born. Later in the chapter God shows us a
glimpse of what will happen to Syria.
God mentions a sign (ot) of the destruction of Syria in
verse 11. (Is this another sign for December 3, 2012?)
Isaiah 7: 10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, 11 “Ask a sign of
the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” (ESV)
Spiros Zodhiates comments:
“(2) The meaning of
the word ‘oth (224), “sign.” Those who suggest that the birth mentioned in
Isaiah 7:14 would be a normal birth contradict the significance of ‘oth. This
word never refers to ordinary events, but always to special or distinctive
actions or things. With reference to God, it is commonly translated as, or
understood to refer to, “miracle.” This is particularly true of its uses in
Isaiah, which, aside from this context, are concentrated with reference to
God’s miraculous sign of the sundial (chaps. 37; 38), and with God’s miraculous
millennial dealings with Israel (chaps. 55; 56). Therefore, the “sign” would
need to be something extraordinary, not merely the normal birth of a male child
who would live to see the downfall of Syria. It certainly would not be the
defeat of Syria and Israel by Assyria! That was the very thing Ahaz was
scheming to do without God’s involvement!” (page 862)
Then the destruction of Syria:
Isaiah 7:18 In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly that
is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of
Assyria. 19 And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and in the
clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures. 20 In
that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River—with
the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away
the beard also. (ESV)
We may be “In that day” right now. If we are, Basher’s name
means Omen, Sign or Herald. Assad means Lion or strength. I’m not seeing a link
to bees or shaving. However, the opposition rebels remind me of bees buzzing as
they prepare to shave Basher Assad.
11.29.2012 Damascus News: “I fear that cutting the Internet
may be a prelude to a massacre in
Damascus,’’ said Adib Shishakly, a Syrian opposition figure from Cairo,
Egypt. ‘‘The regime feels it is being choked off by rebels who are closing in
on the capital from its suburbs. It’s a desperate move; they are trying to
sever communications between activists.’’ (www.boston.com)
Please note: The day the new Egyptian leader, President Morsi,
signed a temporary treaty with Israel; he signed his death warrant. Morsi is
the fly and Abbas is the bee. Both will see their end (Ketz) soon.
Please pray for these people. Their Yom Ha Ketz is nearing.
